Volunteer Interns (Law Students) for Region X

Dear Partners in Volunteerism,

On April, one of our members in VOICE CDO, XUCLA or the  Xavier University Center for Legal Assistance will be having its summer volunteer internship program. If you think your organization or partner community is in need of legal assistance; case analysis, research, and any related matter, please reply with corresponding "areas of concern" to consider the type of volunteer that your institution/community needs. Below is the detail.

SUMMER  PROGRAM of the Xavier University Center for Legal Assistance (XUCLA)   Basic Orientation Seminar ·         The volunteer interns will be given lectures and discussions on the basic laws and issues on human rights, women, children. Farmers, indigenous people, mining.   Immersion ·         A week-long community integration of volunteer to selected depressed communities.   Actual Deployment ·         An in-depth exposure/work with the different NGOs   TENTATIVE SCHEDULE April  5-7, 2010   - Basic Orientation Seminar April 9-15, 2010 - Immersion April 17 – May 22, 2010 – Actual Deployment May 1-2, 2010    - Mid-Program Evaluation   AREAS OF CONCERN (Please submit areas of concerns by 10 March 2010).   1.       Number of volunteer that the partner NGO would like to handle for the entire program 2.       Qualifications of the volunteer 3.       Area coverage (location of assigments) 4.       Extent of counterpart of XUCLA and NGO/GO for the summer program (transportation, board and lodging, allowance of the volunteer) 5.       Workplan/workload of the volunteer (e.g. research, paralegal trainings, legal assistance, case analysis, number of days in the community) 6.       Resource speaker for BOS and materials 7.       Immersion site   Note: XUCLA is a member of VOICE CDO Cluster. VOICE or the Volunteer Organizations Information Coordination & Exchange is a network of volunteer organizations in the Philippines.
